SFSU West Campus Green Housing
San Francisco, CA
The WCG project consists of two adjacent all-electric buildings designed to support student living, wellness, and community engagement. The first is a 120,000-square-foot, six-story first-year residence hall, scheduled for occupancy in fall 2024. The second is a 50,000-square-foot, three-story facility, anticipated to open in winter 2024, featuring a dining commons and the Gator Health Center.
The residence hall is designed to support all aspects of universal design, ensuring equitable access for all students. It utilizes a “pod” concept, with each pod averaging 12 rooms and accommodating three students per room. Shared bathroom facilities and study lounges within each pod foster a sense of community, providing dedicated spaces for socializing, studying, dining, and rest within smaller, more intimate group settings.
The Gator Health Center will consolidate key campus services, including Student Health Services, Counseling and Psychological Services, and Health Promotion and Wellness, creating a centralized hub for student well-being.
The dining facility is designed to frame a central courtyard, offering inviting outdoor spaces that encourage social interaction, relaxation, and a connection to nature through thoughtfully scaled, intimate gathering areas.
