UCSF Peninsula Outpatient Center
Burlingame, CA
Pan-Pacific Mechanical was selected to provide the full mechanical scope for UCSF's Peninsula Outpatient Clinic in Burlingame, California. Our team supported the design and build-out of a future multi-specialty ambulatory care facility within an existing clean shell, which will include surgery, imaging, and cancer care services.
The urban site presented significant challenges due to constrained space. The existing structure features 12-inch-thick concrete floors and columns, with only 11 feet 4 inches between floor levels—requiring highly coordinated and efficient system design. To address strict pharmacy ventilation requirements, including dedicated supply and return air, our team strategically located the pharmacy near the roof. This approach minimized the need for large duct shafts running throughout the building, optimizing both space and constructability.
UCSF partnered with Swinerton Healthcare to deliver the project on an aggressive schedule. The facility is targeting LEED Gold certification and incorporates sustainable design features such as wastewater heat recovery, solar panels, high-efficiency lighting, and high-performance glazing at the main stair.
The building's design emphasizes a modern aesthetic with thoughtful use of color and texture, while prioritizing natural light, privacy, and a calming environment—enhancing the overall patient experience for the surrounding community.
